Finding Remarkable Business Owners

Candidly, we were thrilled to hear from McGarry Bowen when they approached us to help imagine and execute a series of short films to celebrate small business owners, for American Express.

We dug deep to find stories from unique business owners that we felt needed more attention.
  • Identified 6 businesses in the tri-state area with a compelling connection to their community
  • Held preliminary interviews with each business owner, identifying the strongest characters for a documentary-style story telling.
  • Created a comprehensive budget that included travel, production services, and post production for 3 short films.

Elevated Documentary-Style

AmEx loved our concept and characters, so we began assembling the perfect team to execute this campaign with a limited budget.

Beyond the standard expectations for crew, our team identified three unique elements to ensure everything we planned for could be captured.
  • Multiple cameras in each location to ensure the documentary element could really be felt.
  • Long takes, and intentionally lit interview setups to ensure the sit-down frames with each talent could be used as much as needed.
  • Visual Effects director on set to ensure the opening and closing style frames worked to enhance AmEx's brand guidelines.

Long Form & Short Form

Being documentary filmmakers at heart, we were excited to hear that AmEx was in support of having multiple versions of these stories, including a 3-5min versions of each.

The score, shot selection, and pacing makes each of these sing.

  • Our post team significantly elevated each of these cuts with their decision to create custom scores for each.
